Aiming to reduce the number of child fatalities due to being left in hot cars, this week I pre-filed Bill Request (BR) 80 for the upcoming 2015 General Assembly session. BR 80, to be known as the “Look before You Lock” bill will provide limited civil immunity for individuals who discover a child left in a car for an extended period of time. The bill allows a person who has a “good faith belief” that the child is in eminent danger, to gain entry into the vehicle and move the child to safety.
