Preliminary statistics indicate that 13 people died in 13 separate crashes on Kentucky roadways from Monday, Jan. 24, through Sunday, Jan. 30, 2011.
Ten of the crashes involved motor vehicles and six of the victims were not wearing seat belts. Single-fatality crashes occurred in Barren, Estill, Knott, Magoffin, McLean, Metcalfe, Pulaski (two), Todd and Warren counties.
The crashes in Knott, McLean and Metcalfe counties involved the suspected use of alcohol.
Three pedestrian involved crashes occurred in Clark, Jefferson and Lyon counties.
