Narrow escape
Leonard Carlile fell into a well at the residence of his grandfather, L.A. Spalding, Esq., one day last week, and had a narrow escape from drowning. There was a piece of tin over the well, which gave way when the boy stepped on it. He fell a distance of eight or ten feet into the water. A man working nearby saw him fall and hastened to his rescue. He let down a rope, and Leonard caught hold of it and was drawn up.
