A 2013 graduate of Marion County High School died Friday following an accident on Danville Highway.
Colin Whitfill, 19, of Lebanon was the passenger in a vehicle that overturned around noon Dec. 6 on US 68 approximately three miles east of Lebanon.
Whitfill was transported to Spring View Hospital following the accident. He was pronounced dead at the hospital at 1:33 p.m. by the Marion County coroner.
According to the Kentucky State Police, Joseph L. Osbourn, 18, of Lebanon was driving west on Danville Highway in a 2010 Pontiac G6 when he crossed the center of the road and into the eastbound lane. Roy M. Burchett, 44, of Gravel Switch was traveling east in a 2000 Ford van at the time.
Osbourn attempted to avoid a collision and drove off the eastbound side of the road, which caused his vehicle to overturn several times, according to the state police. Osbourn was wearing a seat belt and declined treatment at the scene.
One passenger in the Osbourn vehicle, Justin Wheatley, 18, of Loretto, was also wearing a seat belt and refused treatment at the scene, the state police reported.
Whitfill, who was also a passenger in the Osbourn vehicle, was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the Pontiac, according to the accident report.
Burchett also tried to avoid a collision, and he drove into the westbound lane. In the process, the passenger side mirrors on Burchett's van and Osbourn's Pontiac slapped one another, according to the state police.
Neither Burchett nor passenger Elizabeth Burchett, 34, of Gravel Switch were injured.
State Trooper Morris Farris is investigating the accident.
The Marion County Sheriff's Office, Marion County EMS, the Marion County Rescue Squad and Marion County Emergency Management assisted at the scene.
