4-H'ers can participate in the county fair

Marion County youth have several opportunities to showcase their wares at the 2010 Marion County Fair Wednesday, June 23, through Saturday, July 3.

They can participate in the dairy show at 10 a.m. June 23 at the fairgrounds.

Entries will be taken in Floral Hall at 9 a.m. Monday, June 28.

4-H exhibit classes for youth include: horticulture, crops, electric, wood science, honey, forestry, geology, jewelry, ceramics, drawing/painting, photography, sewing, crochet and embroidery.

Also, knitting, lacework - tatting, needlepoint, quilting, foods, food preservation, home environment, consumer and financial education, communication and leadership project.

The Little Miss and Mister and Pre-Teen Contests will be held at 6:30 p.m. Monday, June 28, in front of the grandstands at the Marion County Fairgrounds. Call the Extension office to enter.

The rabbit show will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, July 1, with a poultry show at 6 p.m. Friday, July 2.

The Marion County Open Beef Show is set for 10 a.m. Friday, July 2, at the fairgrounds.
