Band director named
Lynn Looper, 27-year-old director of the Greenville High School Band, has been appointed to lead the new Marion County High School’s band that will be organized this fall. Mrs. Ralph Abner, former director of the local band and now vocal music instructor in the county schools, will assist in the preliminary organization this summer of the new band.

Football coach

Tommy Simpson has been hired to coach football at Lebanon High School.
Simpson gained fame as a University of Kentucky football player.
He was captain of the UK squad his senior year and was honored with a 110 percent award.

Newcomb honored

Sherry Lynn Newcomb, daughter of Grover and Iva Newcomb of Rowntree Court, was honored on April 23 by the University of Kentucky honorary accounting fraternity, Beta Alpha Psi. She was presented with the Ernest and Whinney Award for outstanding achievement in accounting. The award consisted of a certificate and a scholarship.
