New jobs expected with expansion

R.L. Schreiber Inc. opened its Lebanon facility last year, and the company is already moving forward with expansion plans. That effort will also benefit from a $500,000 boost from the state.
"We're actually expanding what we were already bringing," said Greg Ransdell, R.L. Schreiber CEO.
R.L. Schreiber is a food base and spice company that serves more than 12,000 customers, including cafeterias, cruise lines, national retailers, restaurants and schools. Its Marion County facility is located on Hendrickson Drive.
Ransdell said the expansion would bring additional jobs to the Lebanon facility, but he did not know how many new jobs at this time. He did say they would include jobs working on the production line and in research and development positions.
The Lebanon City Council during a special-called meeting Aug. 27 approved an agreement to receive the half-million grant from the Department of Local Government in the Governor's Office. The council voted 5-0 in favor of the resolution to accept the grant agreement and in favor of amending the 2012-13 city budget to including the grant.
City Administrator John O. Thomas said the grant will become a low-interest loan and grant to R.L. Schreiber. The loan will be repaid to the Marion County Economic Development Office, Thomas said.
