Beginning in 2008-2009, the assessment program under the Commonwealth Accountability Testing System (CATS) for high schools included the ACT examination in English, reading, mathematics, and science to be administered to eleventh graders in Kentucky.
The ACT is a curriculum-based examination that matches well with the education standards in Kentucky. Taking the ACT can give every student a measure of his or her academic strengths and weaknesses.
