The Lebanon Fire Department and Marion County EMS responded to a fire at a vacant house on McElroy Pike Sunday evening, and the likely cause was arson, according to Lebanon Fire Chief Ricky Mattingly.

The Lebanon Police received a report of the fire at 11:30 p.m. Aug. 29.

"It was completely involved and gone by the time we got there," Mattingly said.

Mattingly did not have the address of the property, but he said the building was up from Stewart's Creek and about two miles from where McElroy Pike intersected with St. Joe Road. Mattingly said he has been trying to identify the owner of the property as well, but has not yet been able to do so.

"It had been abandoned for a pretty good while," he said.

Mattingly added that the caller who reported the fire told the dispatch that he had seen a vehicle drive up and down the road near the property repeatedly before the fire started.

No injuries were reported as a result of the fire. The scene was cleared at 1:04 a.m. Aug. 30.
