Stephen B. Humphress, General Counsel for the Kentucky Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC), was a featured conference speaker at the National Alcohol Beverage Control Association’s (NABCA) 21st Annual Legal Symposium on Alcohol Beverage Law and Regulation in March, in Alexandria, Va.  NABCA is a national association of alcoholic beverage control states. This is the only forum that focuses on legal issues from the perspective of regulators, policy makers and the alcohol beverage industry.
Federal, state and local regulators, industry members, analysts and experts from across the nation attend the legal symposium for education and discussion of current alcoholic beverages trends and topics.
“Ethical problems, potential conflicts of interest and improper use of public resources for private benefit are issues that regulators and governmental attorneys must deal with from private citizens and companies,” said Humphress.  “Having my peers from other states discuss these issues and sharing how each of us successfully handle these makes all of us better equipped to do our jobs.”
Humphress joined the department in 2001 and has served at its General Counsel for seven years.
This is the second consecutive year that Humphress served as a featured speaker at NABCA’s Annual Legal Symposium.  NABCA also asked Humphress to serve on its 2014 Legal Symposium planning committee made up of regulators, industry analysts and experts.
