Theresa Leigh Barke, daughter of Joseph and Jackie Fredrick of Lebanon and Virginia Fredrick of Elizabethtown, earned her bachelors of science degree in biology as a 2011 cum laude graduate of Kansas State University. Her accomplishments include a research scholarship award from the Johnson Cancer Center and a H.H. Haymaker Award for outstanding senior in excellence. She is a published co-author of an article for Bacterial Biology and has recently been named as a Ronald E. McNair Scholar. She will be taking her internship at the K-State Research lab working toward her PhD in biology. All this was accomplished while raising two daughters and while her husband, 1st Sergeant Aaron Barke was deployed for a second time to Afghanistan. Formerly of Radcliff, they are currently residing in Ft. Riley, KS.
