The Marion County Animal Shelter's third annual Barktoberfest is this Saturday, Oct. 3, at Graham Memorial Park in Lebanon.

The event will take place from 1:30 p.m. to 4 p.m., but early registration will begin at 1 p.m. There will be a $5 entry fee for each dog competing.

This year's contests include best costume, smallest and largest dog, best talent, best tail wagging, owner-dog look alike and an agility course. New to the event will be demonstrations from the Central Kentucky Herding Group Club. Breakfast Boy Entertainment will also be on hand to keep the crowd barking.

All dogs must be four months old or older to compete and must have a current rabies tag attached to his or her collar. No cats, female dogs in heat or aggressive dogs will be allowed.

In the event of rain, Barktoberfest will be rescheduled for Saturday, Oct. 10.

All proceeds from the event will benefit the Marion County Animal Shelter.
