Bluegrass Cellular Inc. recently announced its lineup for the third annual basketball Battles in the Bluegrass high school sports program. The Battles in the Bluegrass program showcases rivalry games throughout central Kentucky. This year’s featured rivalries were selected with the help of a panel of Kentucky sports writers.

The 2013 season will feature four matchups from all across the state. The game that will spark interest locally will be the Marion County and Taylor County matchup on Jan. 18. That game will be played at Taylor County High School, and will give local basketball fans another reason to cheer.

Three other games highlight the battle games. They are Russellville High School vs. Franklin-Simpson High School on Jan. 11, Pulaski County High School vs. Somerset Independent Schools on Jan. 29, and Bardstown High School vs. Nelson County High School on Feb. 1.

Bluegrass Cellular Inc. launched Battle in the Bluegrass in 2010 as part of the company’s ongoing support of community high school athletics.

“In Kentucky, basketball is extremely popular, and Bluegrass is proud to support high school rivalries,” said Barry Nothstine, vice president of sales and marketing, Bluegrass Cellular. “We look forward to bringing our Battles crew to celebrate the spirit of competition with the community.”

In order for a rivalry game to win the competition, fans must vote on which rivalry they feel is the best. Before each game, fans can log on to www.battlesinthebluegrass.com to view preview videos of each match-up.

Fans can also review video highlights online and support their team by voting in the Battles of the Bluegrass Play of the Season in February.
