Now that Bill Samuels, Jr. has some time on his hands after retiring as president of Maker’s Mark, he’s trying out for a new job: tour guide at the historic distillery in Loretto. Samuels is personally kicking off tours and leading visitors through his colorful and always-entertaining bourbon tastings at the distillery this summer. He’s been there every step of the way, from the first barrels put up by his father in 1954 through the emergence of Maker’s Mark as one of the most popular and recognized brands in the world today, and will share his stories with visitors at the distillery from 10 a.m. through 3:30 p.m. on: June 29, July 14, July 20, Aug. 3, Aug. 17, Sept. 21, and Sept. 28. He’s also working on dates through the rest of the year.
The distillery is located at 3350 Burks Spring Road in Loretto. For more information, contact Sydina Bradshaw at (270) 865-2099.
