The Marion County Board of Education voted to approve the 2011-12 school calendar Thursday, but the decision wasn't unanimous.
The board had two calendars to choose from, and the main differences between the two were concerning the starting day, fall break, and Thanksgiving and Christmas breaks. After more than a 30-minute discussion, the calendar chosen by the majority of the board wasn't the calendar Board Chairman Michael Mullins thought was best for students.
