-A A +A
By Stephen Lega

Three members of the Boyle County Fire Department and one former department member confessed to involvement in setting 12-14 fire during the last 18 months, Boyle County Fire Chief Donnie Sexton announced during a press conference July 8 in Danville. Sexton said eight fires are being investigated in Boyle County and five are under investigation in Marion County, according to The Danville Advocate-Messenger. The names of the firefighters have not been released, but evidence will be presented to the Boyle County Grand Jury. A call to the Marion County attorney has not yet been returned. A June 25 fire at 1:11 in the area of Ward's Branch Road and Aliceton Road led to the investigation. The Boyle County and Gravel Switch Fire Departments responded to that fire, which was inside a mobile home, according to a statement prepared by Sexton. Boyle County Assistant Chief Anthony Young was concerned by the quick response time of a few firefighters. He later obtained video footage of a suspects' vehicle at the convenience store where the 911 call was phoned in and the audio recording of the 911 call, Sexton wrote. Kentucky State Police arson investigators were contacted, and the state police interviewed the suspects, who confessed to their involvement, according to Sexton's statement.
