Boys have strong week

Saturday, the Marion County Knights tennis team traveled to Elizabethtown to compete in the regional tournament. Both Alex Spalding and Ryker Cassidy won their matches, allowing them to move on to the second round of the regional tournament.
In singles action, Alex Spalding defeated his Bardstown opponent, Spencer Smith, in two sets (6-0) and (6-0). Ryker Cassidy won his match in two sets (6-0) and (6-0) against Jackson Thompson of Nelson County.  
In doubles action, Michael Spalding and Jonah Gillespie were defeated by their  Central Hardin opponents, Tyler Sweat and Tyler Jackson, in two sets (0-6) and (0-6). Sweat and Jackson were the No. 5 doubles team in the tournament.

Adair County...
Thursday night, the Marion County Knights tennis team hosted Adair County at Graham Memorial Park, where they had a successful outcome once again, winning all five matches played.
In singles action, Alex Spalding won his match against Adair County’s S. Chaffin 8-1. Marion County’s Ryker Cassidy beat J. Roberts 8-0. Finally, the Marion County singles player Durbin Richardson defeated Adair County’s J. Giles 8-4.  
In doubles action, the Marion County team of Jacob Burdette and Noah Swencki defeated the pair of Franklin and Mann 8-0. The duo of Michael Spalding and Jonah Gillespie won their match against Adair County’s Wooley and Keen 8-6.

Washington County...
Tuesday of last week, the Marion County Knights boys tennis team hosted Washington County at Graham Memorial Park. Marion County claimed victories in all five matches.
In singles action, Alex Spalding beat Washington County’s Wes Young 8-0. Marion County’s Ryker Cassidy defeated D. Haydon 8-1. Durbin Richardson of Marion County won his match against Tyler Beam 8-6.  
In doubles action, the Marion County duo of Jacob Burdette and Noah Swencki defeated J. Simpson and C. Carrico 8-0. The pair of Michael Spalding and Jonah Gillespie beat their Washington County opponents, S. Royalty and S. Young, 8-4.
