The youth baseball leagues in Bradfordsville finished up play for the 2011 season recently. League coordinator Troy Overstreet was pleased with the turnout and participation in the league.
“We had 75 kids playing in the league this year, on six different teams,” Overstreet said.
The teams were divided into two age groups, with each division having three teams. The tee-ball group, ages 3-7, had the Reds, Yankees, and Cubs whle the “big kids” group, ages 8-14, had the Twins, Dodgers, and Pirates.
The league began play in early June, and played their games on Saturday’s. To participate in this league, the kids were not responsible for paying any sort of fee, and each player received a medal at the end of the season. In addition, each player was given a uniform and a cap that were replicas of the major league team that they represented. The league has been a success since it began, Overstreet said.
“I think that all the kids had fun playing this year,” he said.
