Marion County Rescue Squad request for support
The Marion County Rescue Squad is asking for the community's assistance in helping raise money for the purchase of a new hydraulic pump and special cutters to be used on motor vehicle accidents involving entrapment. Marion County Rescue Squad is made up of a group of dedicated volunteers and they rely on the community for help with funding. The rescue squad is asking for $25 support from each household in the county. For this support, the squad is offering a complimentary 10 x 13 color portrait, which will be done by Parish Photos. You will be notified of the time and location of photography sessions. Checks should be made payable to the Marion County Rescue Squad. Receipts are available upon request.
It's Five O'clock Somewhere
The Marion County Chamber of Commerce will hold It's Five O'clock Somewhere event at 5:01 p.m., tomorrow, Oct. 18, at Limestone Branch Distillery. The event is being sponsored by Bill and Monica Pickerill.
The Marion County Democratic Rally will meet tomorrow, Oct. 18, at Centre Square. Social hour will begin at 6 p.m. with a dinner to follow at 7 p.m. Tickets are available at Elmer George's law office. For more information call (270) 402-2612.
Anxiety overload haunted house located at the XB Arena in Loretto is open every Friday and Saturday night in October from8 p.m. till 1 a.m. XP Arena is located at 1280 Manton Road, Loretto. It is a heated, indoor arena. Open rain or shine.
A basic class in CPR is being held at Centre Square on Friday, Oct. 19, from 1-4 p.m., and again on Nov. 30, from 9 a.m.-noon. You will learn about the Automatic External Defibrillator as well as the Heimlich maneuver during this session, leading to certification by the American Heart Association. There will be a benefit dance/auction for Brad Spalding Saturday, Oct. 20, at the St. Joe Community Center. Spalding was involved in an ATV accident in June. There will be pork sandwiches, hotdogs, chips and sodas for purchase. There will be a sound system and D.J. All proceeds will go toward medical bills.
There will be a car/motorcycle show from 10 a.m. till 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 20, at Kroger. Prizes will be given to the first 100 people. The Cattleman's Association will be cooking. Bradfordsville Fall Festival
The Bradfordsville Civic Center will have its annual Fall Festival on Saturday, Oct. 20, between 4:30-7:30 p.m. This year the fall festival will be held at the Bradfordsville School on Community Building in the gym at 115 N. Sixth Street, Bradfordsville. All proceeds will go to support the Bradfordsville Civic Center. Some of the activities to see are grocery basket give away, country store, duck pond, whole face painting, cake wheel, spin the prize, prize toss, chili supper featuring chili, chili dogs, drinks and dessert.
Operation Christmas Child
The Marion County operation Christmas Child kick-off event will be at 7 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 21, at Stewarts Creek Baptist Church, 145 Stewarts Creek Road, Lebanon. National collection week is Nov. 12-19. For more information contact Dan Durham at (270) 789-4306.
The American Red Cross will be having a blood drive from 8 a.m. till 1 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 21, at the St. Charles parish Center. There is a critical need for all blood types.
Ham Days wrap up meeting
There will be a 2012 Ham Days wrap up meeting at 6 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 23. The meeting will be held in the 3rd floor conference room at Centre Square. All committee members are encouraged to attend.
Catholic Elementary Open House Day
Catholic elementary schools in the Archdiocese of Louisville will hold a Catholic Elementary Open House Day on Tuesday, Oct. 23. Monthly chamber luncheon
The Marion County Chamber of Commerce will be hosting its monthly luncheon at noon, Thursday, Oct. 25, at the Marion County Extension Office. It is being sponsored by Central Ky. Ag Credit. The featured speaker will be Mike Bach, president, Kentucky Cattlemen's Association. RSVP for this event by Friday, Oct. 19.
