A female driver collided with an ambulance that was transporting a Marion County man who suffered from a traumatic fall.
The man was being transferred to University Hospital in Louisville, according to Marion County EMS. After the wreck, he was airlifted by Air Methods to U of L.
The crash occurred around 9:30 a.m. Saturday morning.
Bardstown Police Officer Tony Satterly said the preliminary investigation suggests the female driver attempted to take a left onto East John Rowan Boulevard and apparently didn't notice the sirens and lights of the ambulance. A semi truck traveling northbound was stopped at a red light, blocking the female's view of the ambulance, which was traveling northbound in the southbound lane.
The female's car collided with the front passenger side of the ambulance, causing significant damage to the front of her car and minimal damage to the ambulance.
Nelson County EMS arrived to continue the transport of the male patient.
No other details are available at this time.
