Celebrating 50 years of marriage

-A A +A

I bet some probably say Lottie is always talking about time. Enjoy reading on because following is some more time and me.
When Feb. 15 gets here “on time”, it is hard to believe that my husband and I will be celebrating 50 years of marriage. Sometime it just seems like yesterday with marriage and beginning a family and other times it seems like the full 50 years and more.
I rise every morning with gratefulness for the breath of air and go to sleep that night with “thank you” for another day. Although our 50 years have not been peaches and cream every day, I like to think the difficulties, good and bad, with the peach and the cream have been an even kinship.
We are going to have a Mass for the renewal of our vows at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 15 at St. Charles Church in St. Mary’s with a reception to follow at the parish hall. All of our families and long and short time friends are welcomed to come celebrate the time with us.
Thank you to the county for our belated Christmas event we had in Bradfordsville. I think all had a good time. Thanks to Bill Lewis for playing a few songs for us on his trumpet. In addition, a delicious dinner served from Lee’s Famous Recipe. Most of all a beautiful sun-shining day was bestowed on us with our time in Bradfordsville.
The seniors at Loretto are now getting their Tuesday meals at noon. For a suggested donation of $2, hot and nutritious meals are brought in every week. Come in and sit a while for some conversation or maybe a card game. Have some lunch and put up a dollar for a few bingo games.
At the Loretto Senior Center, there is also Senior Club membership. Membership requires one to be 55. Club dues are $12 from Jan. 1 through Dec. 31. Being a club member will entitle you to special benefits throughout the year with events and happenings that are in the planning stage.
The first benefit from paying your dues will be at our upcoming spaghetti, salad, drink, and dessert lunch on Friday, Feb. 7 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m.  Cost is $6 but if you are a Loretto Senior Club member, you will save a dollar and it will be $5.
There is chili, a sandwich, crackers, drink, and dessert day planned for Feb. 21 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m.
If these meals on Fridays go well, we anticipate maybe having other meals more often.
We have scheduled for Tuesdays for anyone in the community that would like to come in and have their blood pressures checked. There will be qualified personnel here to take your blood pressure from 11 a.m.-1 p.m.
Jeannie Mattingly is going to start a sewing class for those interested in basic sewing. Her first class is Monday night from 6 -8 p.m. She is anticipating a quilting class in the time to come.
Always keep in mind that when there is no school due to snow there will not be meals on Tuesdays. School cancelation does not affect the remaining days of the week for the center being open. The phone number at the center is 270-865-2011 if you want to verify happenings.
Come in and browse through to see our new space. Sit a while and chat with us. The coffee pot is always on.

The deposit for the trip I have going into the JFK and Cape Cod area in June on the 21-29 is due Feb. 25. That is on a Saturday through the next Sunday.  Call me at 270-699-9898 for a flyer if interested in going northeast.
Time to end and wait for next month’s time.
Cupid has scattered plenty of red all around us. It is “time” to grab and give some of that red to all those you love.
Happy Valentine’s Day to all.
