The Lebanon Police are investigating an assault that occurred months ago at the Marion Inn. The victim of the assault, Jessica Ogle, died April 28 in a hospital in Louisville.

Sgt. Greg Young said the police are waiting for the results of a medical exam to identify the cause of death. Young added that he is unable to release many details at this time.

"This is an active investigation," Young said.

Assistant Police Chief Wally Brady said the assault occurred March 9, but it was not reported to the police  until March 14.

Ogle was a resident of Bullitt County who moved to Marion County a few months ago to live with a relative, according to Young.

After the assault, Young said he never was able to speak to Ogle directly about what happened. Each time he went to the hospital to interview her, she was unable to speak with him due to her medical condition.

Young added that he does have a suspect in the case and that he has turned over information to the Commonwealth's Attorney. They are waiting for the autopsy report and the death certificate before deciding how to move forward.

Ogle left behind two children, a 6-year-old boy and a 4-year-old girl. A benefit auction, supper and dance is being held June 12 at the VFW Hall in Lebanon. For more information, call (859) 332-0122 or (859) 481-4145.
