The city council unanimously approved the health insurance plan for city employees on Monday evening, electing to go with a proposal from Humana.
United Healthcare offered a renewal rate 29 percent higher than the city's current plan. The Humana offer is 8.6 percent less than the city's current plan.
Under the Humana plan, the city will pay a monthly premium of $29,717.62.
The city also renewed its dental insurance with Delta Dental at $18 per employee, an increase of 52 cents per person.
In other business:
- The city council approved the appointment of Kim Bell and Fr. William Bowling to the Lebanon Human Rights Commission.
The council also approved the re-appointment of Neal Lanham and Harold McDonald to the Housing Authority Board.
- The council approved a request from John Cowherd and Terry Williams to make a set of bleachers available for a summer basketball league at Cleaver Court.
Cowherd said the league will be for children, 18 and under, and they plan to have games twice a month.
- The city approved a resolution supporting R.L. Schreiber in its efforts to acquire equipment through a CDBG grant.
The council also approved a resolution restating its support for fair housing.
