The Lebanon City Council is scheduled to meet in regular session at 7 p.m. Monday, April 11. Instead of meeting at city hall, however, this meeting will be held in Angelic Hall in the Centre Square Performing Arts Center.
City Attorney Kandice Engle-Gray has prepared an amendment to the city's tourism ordinance, based on a vote by the city council during its March 7 meeting. The amendment would eliminate the restaurant tax that provides a majority of the funding for the Lebanon Tourist and Convention Commission. Two readings of the ordinance must be approved and the amendment must be published before the amendment would take effect.
The agenda for the April 11 meeting includes a delegation from a representative of the Lebanon Tourist and Convention Commission and the first reading of the restaurant tax amendment.
The agenda also includes Christine Mattingly (Kentucky's Junior Miss), the minutes of the council's March meetings, department reports, old business and new business, including health insurance renewal, a temporary beer license of the Bourbon and BBQ Music Fest, the re-appointment of Bob Bliss to the Marion/Washington County Airport Board, the first reading of an ordinance annexing 1795 Campbellsville Highway, demolition of abandoned property, bids for a portable generator for Centre Square and bid for fencing at Graham Memorial Park.
Tourism meeting at 3:30 p.m. April 11
The Lebanon Tourist and Convention Commission is scheduled to meet at 3:30 p.m. Monday, April 11, at the Centre Square Convention Center.
The agenda for the meeting includes the treasurer's report and expenses, the executive director's report and the amended budget for the 2010-11 fiscal year.
A decision on the amended budget, which included $12,000 for the Bourbon and BBQ Music Fest, was postponed during the commission's previous meeting. The commission postponed its decision in the aftermath of the city council's vote in favor of eliminating the restaurant tax. The commission wanted to have a better idea what it's anticipated revenue would look before approving the amended budget.
The agenda also includes a goals and reporting structure proposal under new business.
