The American Red Cross will be having a blood drive today, July 17, from 2-7 p.m. at the Marion County Technology Center. It is an Empower Youth Drive sponsored by HOSA. There is a critical need for blood at this time.
Relay for Life
A 2013 Relay for Life wrap up meeting will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, July 18, at the Marion County Farm Bureau office. All team captains, members and public is invited to attend.
It’s Five O’clock Somewhere
The Marion County Chamber of Commerce will host its monthly networking event, It's Five O'clock Somewhere, at 5:01 p.m., Thursday, July 18. The IFOS is being sponsored by Country MIKE FM and will be held at Hennings Restaurant at Rosewood Country Club in Lebanon.
Fair board meeting
There will be a meeting of the Marion County Fair Board at 7 p.m., Thursday, July 18, at the Marion County Extension Office located at 415 Fairgrounds Road in Lebanon. For more information, contact the Marion County Extension Office at (270) 692-2421.
The St. Charles Middle School Football Program and the Marion County Cattleman Association will be having a cookout from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at Kroger. Ribeye and Hamburgers will be served. Meal includes sandwich, chips and drink. Pre-orders of 5 or more can be taken for a certain time pick-up or delivery. Call 699-6530 and leave order and contact number. Proceeds will go toward the St. Charles Middle School Football Program.
The Kentucky Blood Center will be having a blood drive from 1-6 p.m. Tuesday, July 23 at Centre Square. Every donor will receive a $10 Walmart gift card. There is a critical need at this time for blood.

Understanding sports concussions
The Brain Injury Alliance of Kentucky, along with Bob O’Daniel, will host an event entitled, “Understanding sports concussions” at 6 p.m., Thursday, July 25, at Angelic Hall in Lebanon. The event will help those attending to identify symptoms consistent with a concussion and how to properly treat the athlete who has signs of a concussion. Speakers will include Dr. Tad Seifert, a sports physician with Norton Healthcare who is an expert on sports concussions and brain injury. Dr. Seifert will address the symptoms of a possible concussion, the treatment for a concussion and the possible side effects of a concussion. Julian Tackett, the commissioner of the Kentucky High School Athletic Association, will address sports concussions and the free, online training that is available to all coaches at www.kyconcussions.com. This event is free and open to the public.
The Marion County Chamber of Commerce will host its monthly luncheon at noon, Thursday, July 25. The luncheon is being sponsored by United Way of Nelson County and will be held at The Stillhouse in Lebanon. Featured speakers will be Kenny Fogle, executive director of United Way of Nelson County and Jamie Sizemore, board member of United Way of Nelson County. Lebanon Middle School Orientation
Lebanon Middle School sixth-grade orientation will be from 8:30 a.m. till 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 31. Lunch is provided free of charge. Drop-off starts at 8 a.m. Submit updated immunization documentation and you can pre-pay for lunches. Sessions will be held throughout the morning: On your way to middle school success, Rules 101, internet safety, adventure, fun activities and great tips. Students will also receive a copy of their class schedule, locker combination and meet the teachers and LMS staff.
