Henry Howard "Cotton" Abell, 94, first started taking pictures when he was 10 years old. He won a kite-flying contest and the first prize was a box camera. He continued taking pictures until a few years ago due to macular degeneration. Cotton took most of the photos featured in Cotton's Corner, but his first cousin, Bill Abell, also took some. Bill gave Cotton his slides when he moved to Louisville in the 1950s. Some of the photos in Cotton's collection were also taken by Huley Browne. Browne's widow, Violet, gave Cotton his slides after he passed away.
