After hours of discussions and weeks of consideration, the Marion County Fiscal Court approved the health insurance plan for county employees during its Dec. 2 meeting.
The court voted 4-1 to renew a plan offered by Humana Insurance. Magistrate Roger "Cotton" Smothers cast the opposing vote, noting that he would have prefered a plan offered by United Health Care.
"I think the United Health Care plan is the lower deductible and the better plan," Smothers said.
