Democrats win five of six races

Republican Comer wins ag commissioner race

Democrats won five statewide races in Marion County and Kentucky on Election Day, Nov. 8. The only Republican to win was James Comer in the race for Commissioner of Agriculture.

Here are the statewide and local results for each race:

- Gov. Steve Beshear (D) won re-election easily with 55.72 percent of the vote. Beshear received a total of 464,245 votes.

Senate President David Williams (R) was second with 294,034 votes, or 35.29 percent, and independent candidate Gatewood Galbraith finished with 74,860 votes, or 8.99 percent.

In Marion County, Beshear received nearly 73 percent of the vote with 2,929 votes. Williams received 738 votes, and Galbraith received 350 votes.

- In the race for Secretary of State, Allison Lundergan Grimes (D) won comfortably with 494,368 votes, or 60.63 percent of the votes reported. Bill Johnson (R) has 321,065 votes.

Grimes won Marion County with 3,134 votes to Johnson's 758 votes.

- In the race for Attorney General, incumbent Jack Conway (D) was leading challenger Todd P'Pool (R), 449,638 votes to 367,661 votes.

Conway won Marion County with 2,968 votes to P'Pool's 960 votes.

- In the race for Auditor of Public Accounts, Adam Edelen (D) was leading with 440,345 votes to John T. Kemper III's (R) 349,366 votes.

Edelen received 2,985 votes in Marion County to Kemper's 795 votes.

- In the closest race of the night, incumbent State Treasurer Todd Hollenbach (D) won with 393,413 votes (48.77 percent). Republican challenger K.C. Crosbie was a close second with 375,916 votes (46.61 percent), and Libertarian candidate Kenneth C. Moellman Jr. was a distant third with 37,261 votes (4.62 percent).

In Marion County, Hollenbach received 2,756 votes. Crosbie had 955 votes, and Moellman finished with 144 votes.

- And in the race for Commissioner of Agriculture, James R. Comer (R) received 519,183 votes, or 63.84 percent of the ballots cast. Robert "Bob" Farmer (D) has received 294,673 votes.

 Comer won Marion County with 2,103 votes. Farmer received 1,792 votes locally.
