Divine places in hurdles

Marion County High School track team members who qualified for state competition competed on the campus of the University of Louisville Thursday. Natavia Young was the only member of the team to place in the medals throughout the event. To earn a medal in the meet, a participant must place in the top eight spots. Young jumped 15’ 4.5” in the long jump event, which garnered her eighth place. Young also jumped 34’ in the triple jump, which was good for fourth place.
Brooks Divine just missed earning a top eight finish, coming in ninth place in the 300 meter hurdles. Divine ran a time of 42.15 seconds, a mere half a second out of eighth place. Brooklyn Burnside finished the 400-meter dash in a time of 1:05.48, which was 19th.  
Kendal Taul jumped 39’ 9.5” in the triple jump event, but landed in 23rd place.  Scott Hunt competed in the 400-meter dash and took a 20th place finish with a time of 53.84 seconds. In the girls shot put, Tamyra McElroy tossed an impressive 31’ 3”, good for 10th place.
Two relay teams also competed. The boys 4 x 100 meter relay team of Kendal Taul, Jordan Bell, Denny Thompson, and Chris Gaither took a 17th place finish with a time of 46.23 seconds. Scott Hunt, Denny Thompson, Brooks Divine, and Justin Dawson competed in the 4 x 400 meter relay team and finished in 20th place with a time of 3:43.47.
