Divine set to defend indoor state title

-A A +A

Marion County High School senior Brooks Divine competed in the Henderson County Invitational indoor track and field meet recently. Divine finished second in the pole vault event by clearing 14’ 0”. The winner of the completion from Evansville, Ind., cleared 14’ 6”.
This past weekend, Divine headed back to Henderson County to compete in a pole vault only event. Divine failed to clear the bar after three tries and received no height.
Track Coach Jim O’Hare said that Divine had some outstanding efforts in his attempts, but caught some bad luck and didn’t get a qualified jump.  According to O’Hare, Divine easily cleared the bar on his final attempt, but his pole fell into the bar and knocked it off.
On Saturday, Divine will be heading to the University of Kentucky for the UK Elite meet. Coach O’Hare said that there should be some excellent competition there.
On March 2, at Broadbent Arena in Louisville the Mason Dixon Games will be held.  Divine will be defending his indoor state championship there.
“We were really pleased with the way Brooks performed in the first meet of the year, and are looking for him to only get better each week,” Head Track Coach Keith Brown said.
