Indicting a railroad
At the August term of Marion Circuit Court 11 indictments were returned against the Louisville and Nashville Railroad Co., for violation of the “Sunday law” by running trains over the Knoxville branch on Sunday. Last week a demurrer was filed to one of those indictments to bring up the questions involved, the same principal applying equally to the rest. The demurrer was overruled, and upon agreement, judgment for $10 was rendered in each of the 10 cases against the railroad, and the 11th was dismissed.
