On Friday, Oct. 4, emergency services personnel met at St. Charles Middle School to review the school’s emergency plans. Senate Bill 8 and HB 354 require schools and districts to include community first responders in their emergency plans. Each school within MCPS system strives daily to provide a safe environment for its children. These plans are reviewed on a yearly basis and practiced throughout the school year. Those who attended the meeting to become familiar with and provide professional advice regarding the emergency plans were (from left) Scott Spalding, director of maintenance and transportation, Josh Ballard, Loretto Fire Department, Robby Turner, Marion County EMS, Danny McFall, guidance counselor, Ray Gardner, Marion County deputy sheriff, SCMS Principal Buffy Mann and Wayne Hagan, Loretto Fire Department.
