Farm Bureau hosts 70th annual meeting Oct. 13

Marion County Farm Bureau will celebrate their 70th annual meeting Monday, Oct. 13, at the Lebanon Masonic Hall. The dinner meeting will begin at 7 pm.

Among the activities will be the Outstanding Youth competition, and recognition of the recipients of the five scholarships awarded this year. Also being recognized will be the youth participating in the District Talent competition.

A director from each district will be elected and recognized.

This year's speaker for this milestone will be Kentucky Farm Bureau President Marshall Coyle. Coyle was elected president in December 2005, following seven years service as first vice-president, and seven years as second vice-president. He has been a member of the KFB Federation Board of Directors, representing District 10, for 30 years. He is a member of the American Farm Bureau Board of Directors and holds positions on the Boards of Directors of the Southern Farm Bureau Life Insurance Company and Farm Bureau BanCorp.

He is active in a number of tobacco organizations, and currently sits on the Council for Burley Tobacco and represents Farm Bureau on the board of the Kentucky Tobacco Settlement Trust Corporation.

He farms 730 acres near Owingsville, where he manages a beef cattle herd. Coyle and his wife, Phyllis, have a son, a daughter and four grandchildren.
