A vehicle that caught fire at Jackie's Recycling Wednesday morning, Sept. 30, had a ripple effect and 50 or more crushed vehicles went up in flames, keeping firefighters busy for hours.

According to the Lebanon Police department, a vehicle fire was reported at 10:22 a.m. at Jackie's Recycling located at 844 Sulpher Springs Road in Lebanon.

Members of the Lebanon and Bradfordsville fire departments responded to the scene.

According to Jeri Lynn Mays, office manager at Jackie's Recycling, the blaze began when the recycling center's staff were bailing cars. A vehicle caught fire, and while the staff was able to pull the burning car out it still managed to catch several other cars on fire.

The fire caused Jackie's Recycling to be shut down most of the day, and the bailer that was being used was completely destroyed, Mays said.

The scene was cleared at 1:49 p.m.
