The 42nd annual Forkland Festival will take place Friday, Oct. 11, and Saturday, Oct. 12, at the Forkland Community Center. The festival will be held from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Oct. 11, and 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Oct. 12.
The festival includes exhibits at the Forkland Abraham Lincoln Museum, a Salute to Servicemen display, a wildlife exhibit, genealogy documents, old farm machinery and tools, and Native American artifacts. Descendants of early pioneers will perform living history skits in a log cabin.
Local artists, live music, sorghum making, horse-drawn wagon rides and hayrides to a woodland waterfall are all part of the entertainment. A silent auction will be held for one-of-a-kind handcrafted items, such as an Amish quilt, old-fashioned kids games. Artisan pieces will be available as well.
Meals featuring country cooking will be available on site or to take away. On Saturday morning, enjoy a pancake breakfast, and take part in the Fox and Hound 5K race through the knobs on Forkland’s back roads and byways.
When you finish, check out the antique car show.
General admission is $3 for adults and $1 for children under 13. Preschoolers get in free. Tickets for the supper theatre are $15 each or $3 for just the drama.
