Major media outlets in Kentucky are taking notice of the 2009 Knights football squad.

Four members of the 2009 Marion County High School football team were named to The Louisville Courier Journal's 86th annual All-State football team that was released in the Dec. 27 edition.

Seniors Dustin Crane, Dylan Peterson, Bryson Bell and Wes Stayton all received all-state honorable mention from the newspaper. Crane and Stayton earned the honor as offensive lineman. Bell was honored as a defensive back and Peterson was honored for his work as a linebacker.

Two players the Knights faced this season made first team all-state. Bell County linebacker John Dudley Hilton and Lone Oak linebacker Chayton Thacker were given first team nods by The Courier-Journal.

Another interesting note was that no player from Louisville powerhouse St. Xavier or Trinity High School made the newspaper's first team since 1971.
