By Josh Veatch

Tonight, the Lady Knights will play in the final game of opening day action in the Houchens Industries KHSAA Sweet 16 girls basketball state tournament in Bowling Green at E.A. Diddle Arena. Marion County is set to tip off against the Montgomery County Lady Indians from Mt. Sterling at 9 p.m. eastern time.
The Lady Indians defeated George Rogers Clark in the finals of the 10th region tournament 58-51 and are averaging a little better than 55 points per game while giving up nearly 52 points per game. Montgomery County enters the tournament holding a record of 15-15 and are currently on a three game winning streak.  Marion County enters the tournament with a record of 25-6 and currently are on an 11-game winning streak.
The Lady Knights have faced the Lady Indians before, but not since 1982. If Marion County advances past the first round of play, they would face the winner of the Butler vs. Perry County Central game that will be played just before the Lady Knights and Lady Indians. Montgomery County’s last appearance in the state tournament came in 2009 when they lost to eventual state champion Iroquois in the second round. Marion County hopes to erase the bitter taste of defeat in the state tournament when they were ousted in the first round last year by eventual state champions Mercy.
For fans wanting to watch the Lady Knights play that can’t travel to Bowling Green, the KHSAA has announced that for the first time every game from the tournament will be broadcast live through iHigh.com.
The games can be seen by going to http://khsaa.tv/. The semi-finals and finals can also be seen on a pair of television stations.
CWkyt-Lexington will broadcast the championship game live beginning at 9 p.m. eastern time Saturday March 12, with delayed semi-final games being aired beginning at 1 p.m. eastern time on Sunday, March 13.
WAVE-Louisville Digital Channel 3.3 will also be airing the semi-final games beginning at 12 p.m. eastern time Sunday March 13 with the championship game to follow.
