Girls get superior rating

-A A +A

The Marion County High School cheerleading squad took part in an UCA cheerleading camp held on the campus of Eastern Kentucky University June 21-23. At the camp, the team received several awards - a UCA spirit stick and a superior rating improvement award. The team took third place honors in the overall co-ed division, home dance competition and home fight song competition.  They received an excellent rating on their first performance of their extreme routine and improved to a superior rating on their final performance of the extreme routine. The team also received three superior ratings in champions on the field.
Individual honors were given to Kendal Violet, Taylor Scott, Autumn Breeding, Jade Mattingly, Shanna Bickett and Cody Colvin. Each of these were All-American cheerleader nominees, while Violet and Scott were selected to the All-American cheerleader varsity squad. The “grin it to win it” award was awarded to Kendal Violet and Shanna Bickett. Claire Lambe and Joe Carl were given a “pin it forward” leadership award. Only eight of these awards were given out during the entire camp.
Teams at this camp came from Kentucky, Indiana, Tennessee, and Ohio.
