Golf award winners announced

The girls’ and boys’ golf team award winners were recently announced at the golf banquet for Marion County High School.

Both teams enjoyed success this season while earning respect in their regions and throughout the state. The boy's team fell in the region meet while the girl's finished runner up in the region and made a team appearance in the state tournament.

Hayley Abell was named most valuable player for the girl's squad while Tommy Carrico took home the honor for the boys.

Olivia Carrico and Joseph George claimed the lowest match scores for their respective teams while Abell and Taylor Brady recorded the lowest tournament scores.

Most improved awards went to Amy Brown and Joseph Elder.

Players earning first team academic all-state were Hayley Abell and Joseph George.

Lowest junior varsity average went to Blair Gorley for the boy's squad.
