The golf teams at Marion County High School competed in regional competition Monday and Tuesday of last week. Brianna Reynolds, the lone girl to play for Marion County, traveled to Fort Knox to compete on Monday. She finished in 17th place overall out of 60 competitors by shooting a 102.
"She had a good year overall and really improved from the previous season," Head Coach Chad Spalding said. "We hope to find some more girl golfers to go along with her next season so we can compete as a team."
The boys team made the trip to Springfield to compete in their regional competition on Tuesday. As a team the Knights shot a 346 to take seventh place out of the 19 team field. Casey Lee led the way for the Knights with an 84, followed by Logan Medley with an 85, Evan Dye with an 87 and Trevor Burchell with a 90.
"We played really good at times during the day and had a chance to go several shots lower, but that's golf," Coach Spalding said. "The course was also playing tough with fast greens and windy conditions. Finishing seventh out 19 teams isn't bad."
