Hawks soar past Marion County

By Nick Schrager

Playing through storms and humidity, the Knights went 1-1 last week by defeating the Bardstown Tigers and falling to the LaRue County Hawks.

They fell to the Hawks by five strokes, 166-177, on Aug. 28.

Playing the front nine, Houston Raikes led the Knights by shooting a 39. Behind Raikes, Trevor Burchell shot a 42. Noah Dye, Daniel Maupin, and Dylan Cambron shot a 43, 47, and 52, respectively.

For the first time this season, the Knights battled through heavy downpours when they played the Bardstown Tigers. The Knights knocked out the Tigers on their own turf, 171-176, on Aug. 25.

“I was kind of pleased with us battling the elements a little bit,” Coach Chad Spalding said. “We haven’t played in the rain all year.”

Trevor Burchell led the pack against the Tigers shooting a 35. Raikes was on Burchell’s tail with 42.

Maupin fired a 44 while Dye and Bryce Spalding each shot 46 and 48, respectively.

Cambron shot a 52.
