Kentucky State Police say a Gravel Switch woman was drunk when she drove through a fence off Loretto Road May 26.
Ann Marie Spalding, 49, was driving a 2002 Ford F150 northbound on Loretto Road, KY 49, around 8:39 p.m. when she drove straight through a curve north of Burba Road, Kentucky State Police Trooper John Adams said.
“She just stayed straight and drove right on through the fence,” he said.
The truck continued through a field before coming to rest in a ditch.
“Come to find out she was extremely intoxicated and I ended up charging her with DUI,” Adams said.
Spalding didn’t appear to have been injured in the accident, but she was taken to the hospital in case of injury and because of her alleged intoxication, according to Adams.
“She just seemed like she had passed out behind the wheel from alcohol,” Adams said. “She wasn’t showing any physical injuries.”
Because Spalding went to the hospital, she was cited and not arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs.
