The first Heart of Kentucky Bourbon & BBQ MusicFest was held this past weekend in Lebanon. And, for its first year, it was a success, according to Brad Mattingly, Marion County Chamber of Commerce president.
"I am very satisfied with the weekend's activities," he said Monday morning. "The feedback I've received has been quite positive."
On Friday, a concert was held behind Centre Square, which attracted approximately 350 to 400 spectators with the main act being 100% Angus, an AC/DC tribute band. A bourbon sampling was also held during the concert Friday evening. Saturday's festivities included a car, truck & motorcycle cruise-in, live entertainment, the Heart of Kentucky Cornhole Classic and a BBQ cook-off.
"For our first year and the short time we had to prepare this event, I think things went very well," Mary Lou Brock of the Main Street Committee said. "The vendors on Saturday were very pleased and said that they would return next year."
Ten barbecue vendors participated in the cook-off. The grand prize winner of the Heart of Kentucky Bourbon & BBQ MusicFest barbecue cook-off was Smokey D's of Calvary. Placing second was Pit Crew BBQ of Lebanon and third was Lucky Dog of Perryville.
