Holiday events start next week

Christmas in the Park is Nov. 22
Christmas in the Park will take place at Graham Memorial Park in Lebanon Wednesday, Nov. 22. The event will officially begin at 6:30 p.m., with free cookies, popcorn and hot chocolate. The lighting of the park will be at 7 p.m. Santa Claus will arrive on one of Lebanon's finest fire trucks at 7:15 p.m.
The park staff invites you to come out and visit with Santa, enjoy refreshments and walk the track taking in all of the displays sponsored or donated by local merchants and individuals. The park is encouraging all businesses to put up a display at the park. Donations and/or displays are desperately needed. For more information, call 270-692-1155 or 270-692-9358.
Christmas in the Park will continue through Jan. 1, 2018.

Dickens Christmas is Nov. 24
The annual Dickens Christmas events will begin at 5:30 p.m., Friday, Nov. 24, in downtown Lebanon with the lighting of the community Christmas tree, and the Marion County Chamber of Commerce’s Chili Cook-off. Chili Cook-off tickets are $5, and will be available inside the Farmers National Bank Annex. Ten participants will be placed along Main Street near participating businesses. Buy one bowl then try all the chili you want. After sampling chili from all participants, you can vote for your favorite at the FNB Annex. For more information, contact the chamber at 270-692-9594.
There will also be open houses at downtown businesses, free animated stuffed animal rides in McB’s parking lot, trackless train rides on Main Street, carriage rides along Spalding Avenue and singing on the Marion County Heritage Center steps from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.
A live nativity will also be at Lebanon United Methodist Church at 6:30 p.m.
Free hot dogs, cider and hot chocolate will also be served throughout the evening.
The Dickens Christmas Parade will begin at 7 p.m.
Following the parade, there will be visits and pictures with Santa inside the Farmers Bank Annex (bring your own camera or phone to take photos).

Loretto Christmas Parade is Dec. 1
The fifth annual Loretto Christmas Parade will take place at 6:30 p.m., Friday, Dec. 1. Parts of Highway 52, Highway 49 and Spencer Hamilton Road will be closed at 6:15 p.m. prior to the parade. After the parade, refreshments will be served at the St. Francis Activity Center, and Santa Claus will be on hand to take photos with children and talk to them about their Christmas wish lists. Bradfordsville’s Christmas in the Country is Dec. 2
Christmas in the Country Parade will be at 3 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 2, in Bradfordsville. The turkey/ham supper will be at 4 p.m.
