After defeating Clay County in the Kentucky state softball tournament on July 13, the 11-12-year-old girls team will advance to the central regional tournament in Indianapolis.
Friday morning, the girls drove down Main Street, where fans waved and cheered before they departed for indianopolis.
Marion County will represent Kentucky at the Central Region tournament.
Please note that the pool play schedule has been altered from what was published in the July 17 edition of The Lebanon Enterprise. Originally, the team from North/South Dakota was scheduled to play in the tournament, but that team dropped out.
As a result, the new pools for the tournament are as follows:
Pool A - Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin, Michigan and Missouri
Pool B - Ohio, Iowa, Nebraska and Kentucky
Marion County's first game is now scheduled for noon Sunday against the Ohio state champions.
Marion County's second game is scheduled for 11 a.m. Monday, July 22, against Nebraska.
The local all-stars final pool play game is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 24, against Iowa.
The top two teams from each pool (A and B pool) will then enter the single-elimination championship round, which is scheduled to begin Thursday, July 25. At 11 a.m. that day, the top seed in the A pool will play the second seed from the pool, and the top team from the B pool will play the A pool’s second-best team.
The winners from each round will face off against each other that afternoon at 3 p.m.
All games will be played at the Ferguson and Stokely fields, which are located at 9802 E. Little League Drive in Indianapolis, Ind.
