Inmate indicted for escape

Local man and woman indicted for drug offenses

James Edward Combs Jr., 27, of St. Marys Road in Lebanon was indicted in Marion Circuit Court recently for second-degree escape and first-degree persistent felony offender.

According to the indictment, on or about Aug. 2, Combs escaped from the Marion County Detention Center. The indictment also states that he was over the age of 21 and stands convicted of at least two prior felonies after his 18th birthday.

He is being held without bond.   In other indictments:

• Richard C. Farris, 52, of 605 Cowherd Lane in Lebanon was indicted for first-degree possession of a controlled substance (second offense), possession of drug paraphernalia (second or subsequent offense), possession of marijuana and first-degree persistent felony offender.

According to the indictment, on or about March 13, Farris knowingly and unlawfully possessed a controlled substance or aided, abetted or counseled with Angel O'Rafferty in said act. The indictment also states that Farris knowingly and unlawfully possessed drug paraphernalia and marijuana. The indictment further states that Farris was over the age of 21 and stood convicted of at least two prior felonies after his 18th birthday.

In a separate indictment, Farris was indicted for first-degree possession of a controlled substance (second offense), possession of drug paraphernalia (second or subsequent offense), and first-degree persistent felony offender.

According to that indictment, on or about March 16, Farris knowingly and unlawfully possessed a controlled substance or aided, abetted or counseled with Donna McConnell in said act. The indictment also states that Farris knowingly and unlawfully possessed drug paraphernalia and was over the age of 21 and stood convicted of at least two prior felonies after his 18th birthday.

His bond was set at $15,000.

• Angel O'Rafferty, 33, of 4125 Highway 52 in Loretto was indicted for first-degree possession of a controlled substance (second offense), possession of drug paraphernalia (second or subsequent offense) and possession of marijuana.

According to the indictment, on or about March 13, O'Rafferty knowingly and unlawfully possessed a controlled substance or aided, abetted or counseled with Richard Farris in said act. The indictment also states that O'Rafferty knowingly and unlawfully possessed drug paraphernalia and marijuana.

O'Rafferty's bond was set at $10,000.

• Donna McConnell, 47, of 605 Cowherd Lane in Lebanon was indicted for first-degree possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and second-degree persistent felony offender.

According to that indictment, on or about March 16, McConnell knowingly and unlawfully possessed a controlled substance or aided, abetted or counseled with Richard Farris in said act. The indictment also states that McConnell knowingly and unlawfully possessed drug paraphernalia and was over the age of 21 and stood convicted of at least two prior felonies after her 18th birthday.

Her bond was set at $10,000.

• Kathy E. Spalding, 50, of 331 Oak Street in Lebanon was indicted for three counts of second-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument.

According to the indictment, on or about May 20 through May 25, Splalding uttered or possessed three checks on the account of Della Gribbins, with knowledge that they were forged and with intent to defraud, deceive or injure another.

Her bond was set at 10 percent of $5,000.

• Joseph R. Jones, 18, of 339 East Walnut Street in Lebanon was indicted for intimidating a participant in the legal process, first-degree criminal mischief and third-degree terroristic threatening.

According to the indictment, on or about July 8, Jones, by use of physical force or threat directed to a witness or person he believes will be a participant in the legal process influence, or attempt to influence, his testimony, vote, decision, or opinion. The indictment also states that Jones intentionally or wantonly defaced, destroyed or damaged property causing a loss of $1,000 or more. The indictment further states that he threatened to commit a crime likely to result in death or serious physical injury to another person.

His bond was set at 10 percent of $5,000.

• Michael Anthony Ryan, 31, of 11 Marion Hotel in Lebanon was indicted for first-degree wanton endangerment (police officer), first-degree fleeing/evading police, second-degree fleeing evading police on foot, resisting arrest, operating a motor vehicle under influence of alcohol/drugs, reckless driving, second-degree criminal mischief, having one headlight and use/possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to the indictment, on or about July 18, Ryan wantonly engaged in conduct, which created a substantial danger of death or serious physical injury to a police officer and attempted to flee a police officer while driving under the influence of alcohol or another substance. The indictment also states that he was driving in a reckless manner and attempted to flee on foot and resist arrest. The indictment goes on to state that he intentionally or wantonly defaced, destroyed or damaged a police cruiser, was driving with one headlight and possessed drug paraphernalia.

His bond was set at 10 percent of $10,000. He was ordered not to drive and to have no alcohol.

• William Howard Thompson, 53, of 205 Gabes Lane in Loretto was indicted for receiving stolen property over $300.

According to the indictment, on or about May 31, Thompson received, retained or disposed of movable property (a hay wagon) knowing it had been stolen or having reason to believe it was stolen.

His bond was set at 10 percent of $5,000. He was ordered not to drive and to have no alcohol.

• Timothy Wayne Hahn, 41, of 100 Lucas Lane in St. Francis was indicted for first-degree fleeing and evading police, three counts of first-degree wanton endangerment (police officer), operating an ATV on private or public land without consent and operating an ATV on the roadway.

According to the indictment, on or about June 9, Hahn operated a motor vehicle with intent to elude or flee and caused substantial risk of serious physical injury or death to another person, including at least four police officers. The indictment also states that he was driving an ATV on property without the consent of the landowner and was driving the ATV on a public roadway.

His bond was set at 10 percent of $15,000.

• Melvin W. Treadway, 43, of 395 Caudill Lane in Lebanon was indicted for third-degree burglary, theft by unlawful taking over $300 and first-degree persistent felony offender.

According to the indictment, on or about May 20, Treadway knowingly entered or remained unlawfully in a building with intent to commit a crime and unlawfully took control over movable property of another with intent to deprive him thereof. The indictment also states that he was over the age of 21 and stood convicted of at least two prior felonies after his 18th birthday.

His bond was set at 10 percent of $5,000.

• Phillip R. Johnson, 27, of 201 Lil Jodie Drive in Lebanon was indicted for flagrant non-support and first-degree persistent felony offender.

According to the indictment, between July 1, 2008, and continuing through June 30, 2009, Johnson persistently failed to provide support for his minor child, which he could reasonably provide and has a duty to provide by virtue of a court order and that failure has results in an arrearage of more than $1,000. The indictment also states that he was over the age of 21 and stood convicted of at least two felonies after his 18th birthday.

His bond was set at $1,000.

• Robert Dale Smothers, 44, of 244 Shuck Avenue in Lebanon was indicted for first-degree possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, second-degree possession of a controlled substance, and first-degree persistent felony offender.

According to the indictment, on or about June 13, Smothers knowingly and unlawfully possessed a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia. The indictment also states that he was over the age of 21 and stood convicted of at least two prior felonies after his 18th birthday.

His bond was set at $1,000.

• Angela Marie Hunt, 33, of 504 Valley View Court in Lebanon was indicted for first-degree possession of a controlled substance.

According to the indictment, on or about June 13, Hunt knowingly and unlawfully possessed a controlled substance.

Her bond was set at 10 percent of $5,000.
