JV and Freshmen Knights open their seasons

The Marion County junior varsity and freshmen Knights boys' basketball teams opened their seasons last week.

The junior varsity Knights lost their opener to Waggener at the Roby Dome on Saturday. The Wildcats outlasted the Knights 36-28. Chuck Elder led the way for Knights with nine points. Kendrick Knopp and Dalton Mills chipped in six points apiece. Marquis Douglas and Brian Loper added two points apiece. Valis Mudd had three points.

The freshmen Knights opened their season with two games on Saturday at the Roby Dome.

The first match against Campbellsville went down to the wire as Marion County outlasted the Eagles 40-38.

Patrick Gribbins led the way with 13 points. Eric Farmer added eight points while Eric Burton, Carlos Litsey and Vincent Collins chipped in four apiece. John Southall had five points while Brandon Sandusky added two points.

The second game of the day proved to be an easier match up for the freshmen Knights. A dominating second half performance helped the Knights coast to a 51-26 win over Taylor County.

The Knights had a balanced attack led by John Southall who had 13 points, Patrick Gribbins with 11 and Eric Burton with 10. Vincent Collins added eight points. Eric Farmer had six and Carlos Litsey had three.
