Authors, musicians, playwrights, poets and songwriters will stop by central Kentucky this weekend for the 2011 Kentucky Writers Day.
The writing celebration is hosted each year by Historic Penn's Store in honor of Robert Penn Warren (who was born April 24). Penn's Store is located south of Gravel Switch off of Hwy. 243.
The weekend's activities kick-off at 6:30 p.m. Friday at the Off Broadway Cafe, 158 N. Third Street in Danville.
The weekend's events will continue Saturday at two different locations. Starting at 10 a.m. Saturday, readings and performances will be held at the West T. Hill Community Theatre, 117 Larrimore Lane in Danville, and at 6 p.m. that evening, another session will begin at the Off Broadway Cafe.
At noon Sunday, the writers day event will conclude at Penn's Store, 257 Penn's Store Road in Gravel Switch.
Performers at this year's event will include Dix River Crossing (who performed at this year's Kentucky Bluegrass Music Kickoff), Ruth Ann Fogle, Michael Johnathan (host of the WoodSong's Old-Time Radio Hour), Dawn Osborn, and the Elizabeth Madox Roberts Society.
