Due to the poor road condition’s Friday, registration for students entering Marion County Public Schools for the first time during the 2013-14 academic year has been rescheduled.

Registration for next year’s kindergarten and preschool students has been rescheduled for Friday, Feb. 1, from noon to 6 p.m. at each of the Marion County public elementary schools.

Children who will be five years old on or before Oct. 1, 2013 should register for kindergarten classes. Students who are in the four-year-old program during the 2012-13 school year should register for kindergarten.

Children who will be three or four years of age who may become age 5 after Oct. 1, 2013 may be eligible for preschool services. If the child is three or four and is suspected to have a disability, register your child on the above date. The registration will take place at the school the child would attend.

Parents should take a certified copy of the child’s birth certificate and any physical and immunization records that the child may have to the school on the day of registration. Provide proof of residence in the form of a utility bill to insure proper school assignment. House Bill 706 requires evidence that an optometrist or opthalmologist has performed a vision examination the first year a student is enrolled in public school, public preschool or Head Start program.

Each child must have on file the following documents before the day of school entrance:

• Certified copy of birth certificate

• Physical examination record

• Immunization record

• Vision examination

• Dental health screening

• Proof of residence (utility bill)

No child will be permitted to enter the first day of school without these documents on file in the school office.

Head Start will also be having registration at each elementary school for three and four year-old children. For more information, call Shannon Miller at (270) 692-9966 (Bradfordsville or Lebanon) or Judy Gardner at (270) 865-4214 (Loretto).
