The Marion County High School volleyball team lost to LaRue County on Thursday to move their season record to one win and two losses.

LaRue (5-0) beat the Knights in two sets (25-18, 25-21) at LaRue.

"I was very disappointed with our lack of focus tonight," Head Coach David Hibbard said in his match report. "We knew LaRue had a strong corps of servers and that if we could handle their serves we would have a chance to win. Even knowing that up front, we did not come ready to play."

The coach said the Knights were "never really in either set because of extremely poor passing on serve receive."

Hibbard said LaRue jumped out to a 10-5 lead in the first set and would hold the Knights off to win the set 25-18.

He said the second set was more of the same with some improved passing.

"The problem in set two was hitting errors," Hibbard said. "A total of nine errors combined with five serve errors put the Knights in a 20-14 hole. A last minute effort made the final score close, but the Knights came away with a defeat."

Hibbard was disappointed with the team's play and feels like they missed an opportunity.

"Give LaRue credit, they played well but a good majority of this defeat lies in our hands," he said. "When every player on the team commits two or more errors that tells me this was a total team let down. We have to regroup quickly for a big week next week against Bethlehem, Taylor and Washington."

Marion County hosts Washington County at the Roby Dome on Thursday at 7 p.m. They travel to Adair County on Tuesday to play at 6:15 p.m.
